Instructions

An authorization reversal is a transaction that negates an authorization by releasing the hold on funds in a customer’s credit card account. An authorization results in a temporary hold on funds, which decreases the customer’s available credit. This hold typically expires within five to seven days. You can expedite the release of funds by sending an authorization reversal request to your customer’s issuing bank. Refer to Article Number 000002054 for instruction.

You cannot delete an authorization (also known as an authorization hold). Authorizations expire automatically within five to seven days.

You can, however, request a full authorization reversal if your payment processor supports it. Please select the Credit Card Services Guide according to which payment processor you are using to see if your processor supports authorization reversals.
