EMVCo sunset the testing of products supporting only EMV® 3-D Secure (3DS) specification version 2.1.0. as of 1 July 2022. To align with industry standards, major card schemes will discontinue support of processing EMV® 3DS 2.1.0 transactions in 2024:

1. Is Cybersource ready to support EMV® 3DS 2.2.0?

  • There are EMV® 3DS 2.2.0 transactions running currently for Cybersource merchants in Production for supported issuers.
  • The following table describes the current state of readiness of Cybersource support with the various card networks. Please note that the information below may change as they are dependent on a number of factors, including certification completion and connectivity testing. This table will be updated to reflect changes as they are reported:

2. What actions do merchants need to do before and after the sunset?

  • None. No change in Payer Authentication transaction responses or batch files from Cybersource to merchants from EMV® 3DS 2.1.0 to EMV® 3DS 2.2.0, as Cybersource is already running EMV® 3DS 2.2.0 transactions in Production for supported issuers.

3. What will happen to the Payer Authentication transactions for merchants using Cybersource Payer Authentication services with acquirers supporting EMV® 3DS 2.2.0, but issuers do not support EMV® 3DS 2.2.0 as the highest protocol version after the Sunset?
