Introduction
Network Tokenization allows merchants to replace sensitive card data with a secure network-issued token, improving payment security and reducing fraud risk. It can also help increase transaction approval rates and supports use cases such as recurring billing and automatic credential updates.
This article provides guidance for enrolling in Network Tokenization with one or more supported card networks — including Visa Token Service, Mastercard Digital Enablement Service, and American Express Tokenization Service — using Token Management Service (TMS).
Overview
Merchants using Token Management Service can enable Network Tokenization to securely store and manage payment credentials. This content applies to merchants using the Direct Network Tokenization model in conjunction with Visa Acceptance Solutions (including Cybersource) as their payment gateway.
By following the steps provided, you can ensure your payment environment is ready for token provisioning and transaction processing across multiple card brands.
Procedure
- Review the Network Tokenization requirements for your payment processing environment.
- Select the card networks you wish to enable for Network Tokenization (Visa, Mastercard, American Express).
- Complete the enrollment process for your TMS tokens to be enabled for Network Tokenization.
- Update your integration to support your intended use cases, such as recurring payments or credential updates.
- Test your implementation to confirm successful token provisioning and transaction processing.
