Introduction

Proper configuration of your Merchant ID (MID) is essential for efficient transaction processing. The Visa Acceptance Platform (VAP) Portfolio Management enables clients to self-configure and manage processor details for their MIDs. This article outlines the process for configuring and verifying processor details in VAP, as well as the steps for clients not yet migrated to the platform. Key payment processor requirements are also provided.

A Merchant ID (MID) is a unique identifier assigned by the processor to identify the merchant account receiving funds. A Terminal ID (TID) is a unique identifier used to identify the specific source of a transaction, whether in a Card Present or Card Not Present (ecommerce) setup. Ensuring both identifiers are accurately configured in VAP is critical to successful payment processing and funding.

Applicability

This article applies to clients configuring or verifying processor details for MIDs within the Visa Acceptance Platform (VAP). It also applies to clients not yet migrated to VAP who need processor configuration assistance through Client Services.

This article does not apply to clients using processor configuration methods outside of VAP or Client Services onboarding workflows.

Procedure

For Clients Using VAP

  1. Log in to your Portfolio MID via the business center.
  2. Select the Portfolio Management section.
  3. Locate the relevant MID and review its processor specifications to ensure accuracy.
  4. Edit and update any discrepancies directly within the platform.
Note: If you lack permission to make changes, contact your administrator.
  5. Consult the VAP Portfolio Management user guide or instructional YouTube videos for detailed instructions.

For Clients Not Yet on VAP

  1. Contact Client Services for processor configuration if you are not on VAP or do not have a Portfolio MID.
  2. Request a VAR sheet from your payment processor before contacting Client Services.
  3. Use the VAR sheet to complete the boarding form provided by Client Services.
  4. Submit the completed boarding form to Client Services for review and MID configuration.
