Objective
This resource provides a detailed guide on voiding a transaction using the Business Center or our API. It also addresses frequently asked questions and offers relevant resources related to voids.
What is a Void?
A void is the cancellation of a settlement or credit transaction.
When to Submit a Void
You can submit a request to void a credit or settlement anytime after submitting the credit or settlement and before the credit or settlement is submitted (batched) to the processor at the processor's designated batch time.
Voiding a Transaction in the Business Center
- Sign in to the Business Center.
- Select "Transaction Management" > "Transactions".
- Specify a Date Range, e.g., Last 7 days.
- Select "Add a Filter" to filter by a specific field, e.g., Request ID, Merchant Reference Number.
- Select the Request ID to view transaction details.
- Select "VOID" from the menu bar above Transaction History.
- Follow the instructions in the section: "Voiding a Capture or Credit", found in Credit Card Services - Using the Simple Order API.
- Follow the instructions in the section: "Voiding a Capture or Credit", found in Credit Card Services - Using the SCMP API.
- Your transaction is an authorization and not a settlement or credit. Please refer to Support Article: "How do I delete or reverse an authorization?".
- Your transaction has been batched and will need to be credited. Please refer to Support Article: "Payments - How to issue a follow-on credit".

FAQs
How do I check the status of my transaction?
- To locate your transaction within the business center, refer to Support Article: "Search for transactions using advanced search in business center".
- Transactions follow the standard settlement process. Once transmitted, your Merchant Service Provider (Acquirer) receives the batch containing the credit. For ETAs on when the credit will appear in your customer's bank account, contact your Merchant Service Provider.
- To obtain logs pertaining to your transaction, please refer to Support Article: "Support – How to contact Client Services".
- A card authorization is authorizing the funds for the purchase. A card settlement is when an authorization and capture has occurred on the payment and it will now be sent to your Merchant Service Provider (Acquirer) for funding. For more information on the credit card process, refer to Support Article: "What is the difference between Authorization, Capture and Sale?".
- Generally, Cybersource has standard fees associated with payments. You may refer to your recent invoice for more information or contact your Account Manager. Outside of Cybersource, you will want to contact your Merchant Service Provider (Acquirer).
