Description of Issue
On 09 May 2026, Visa identified a service disruption affecting portal access for the Cybersource Business Center (BC). An internal system connectivity issue in a Visa data center prevented the portal from functioning normally, causing some users to see blank pages or error messages until the issue was identified and resolved at 10:52 GMT.
Impact
During the incident window, some users were unable to log in to the BC, temporarily hindering their ability to retrieve account information or manage transactions. Additionally, clients may have experienced a small subset of authorization timeouts and Webhook notifications delays as well. Core payment processing remained operational throughout the incident and no transaction data was lost because of this disruption.
Root Cause
An internal connectivity issue affected the BC portal, resulting in a brief period of service unavailability. The issue was limited to portal connectivity, with no impact to payment processing.
Mitigating and Preventative Actions
The incident was mitigated by redirecting portal traffic to which stabilized systems and restored portal access.
To help prevent future recurrence, Cybersource plans to:
- Review the implementation of additional safeguards – including enhanced monitoring and rigorous validation of key systems and processes to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
