Description of Issue
Between 05:30 GMT to 22:57 GMT on December 13, 2024, some merchants reported intermittent “ESYSTEM Errors”, “HTTP 502 Server Errors” and failing transactions with their connections to the REST (Representational State Transfer) Payment Services API (Application Programming Interface). Cybersource teams investigated the issue and determined that a recently deployed system release was the cause. A rollback of the release was performed to mitigate the issue.
Impact
Merchants may have experienced intermittent “ESYSTEM Errors” and "HTTP 502 Server Errors” on REST API transactions causing some transactions to fail.
Root Cause
A recently deployed system release caused the disruption.
Mitigating and Preventative Actions
Cybersource support teams rolled back the systems release to mitigate the issue.
To prevent future recurrence:
- Cybersource plans to review its alerting and notifications pertaining to the REST Services.
- Cybersource plans to review future planned releases for testing and release monitoring improvements.
