End:       23 September 2024 13:18 GMT

Description of Issue
Multiple merchants reported certificate errors while connecting to Cybersource API (Application Support Interface) end points. Cybersource support identified an expired certificate which was renewed across its data centers to resolve the issue.

Impact
Merchants may have experienced a rise in API connectivity errors impacting customers being able to complete their transactions.

Root Cause
An expired certificate within the Cybersource platform.

Mitigating and Preventative Actions
Cybersource renewed the identified certificate across its data centers. Some merchants may have been able to alter their certificate logic on their end to mitigate impact.

To help prevent future recurrence:

  • Cybersource will review its certificate governance functions and processes.

This was tracked and investigated under incident INC19126977.
